eSynergy Tech Series – Harnessing the ROI of Reliability Engineering

How High Performing organisations are balancing reliability and feature velocity

Wednesday 23rd June 2021 @ 12pm

In our upcoming Tech Series we will be joined by Russ Miles, who will be sharing industry lessons from the front line when implementing reliability engineering.

In this session, Russ Miles, CEO of “Reliably: The Reliability as Code Platform for Developers”, will talk about how the ways that reliability is engineered and invested in changing, especially from the perspective of the people who are ultimately responsible for those investments.

Through real-world examples, including recent examples from the retail sector, and the latest research, Russ will explore how investment in reliability is moving from reactive, blame and hope-driven practices, to empirical, blameless and proactive practices. Russ will talk about why this change is happening and what it means to your competitive edge and return on investment (ROI) in reliability.

Finally, Russ will share a plan of action that any technology-driven business can apply to begin to practice reliability, proactively.

Russ Miles is CEO and co-founder of Reliably (https://reliably.com) where he and his team build products and services that help developers build and run reliable systems. Russ is co-founder of the free and open-source Chaos Toolkit (https://chaostoolkit.org) project and is also an international consultant, trainer, speaker, and author.

His most recent book, “Learning Chaos Engineering” by O’Reilly Media explores how to proactively engineer more reliable systems by building trust and confidence through the successful application of Site Reliability Engineering and chaos engineering practices to surface evidence of system weaknesses before they affect your users.
