Raising expectations of our leaders… What is Service Ownership and what does it mean to me?
DfE is changing into a delivery organisation.
Service owners are accountable owners of a service – they hold the budget, hire and fire and are ultimately responsible for delivery.
Today we are going to hear about 3 services, led by people who have contributed to DfE’s digital delivery story and its culture.
James Reeve -Deputy Director, Digital Delivery
James builds and supports teams that tackle some of the DfE’s most urgent and challenging projects. These multidisciplinary teams work with – and are led by – service owners. They deliver brilliant services with digital components. These teams foster an inclusive culture and bring digital skills to new areas.
Eileen Logie – Deputy Director, Apprenticeship Directorate
Eileen has led the transformation of services, digital capability, data models, technology, and business operations. She is recognised for her ground-breaking delivery methods and customer focused automation.
Eileen will talk about the challenges of agile delivery at scale and how service design and design thinking have helped shape the delivery and iteration of the Apprenticeship service.
Rachel Hope – Deputy Director, Teaching Workforce Directorate
Rachel brings policy and delivery expertise together in multidisciplinary teams to tackle one of the Department’s biggest challenges – ensuring there are excellent teachers for every child.
Rachel will talk about creating policy and services that are organised around outcomes, and she’ll discuss how policy and services can be iterated to achieve real change.
Patrick Lee – Service Owner, National Retraining Scheme
Patrick is responsible for the National Retraining Scheme (NRS) which will help prepare adults for future changes to the economy, including those brought about by automation.
Patrick will talk about the challenges of getting a new service off the ground.
