There is now no doubt that diversity is one of the best sources of innovation and significantly improved business outcomes. But it is not automatic. Diversity on its own does not produce better solutions for businesses or the people who work in them. Indeed research demonstrates that diverse teams with low Cultural Intelligence levels perform significantly worse than homogenous teams.
Cultural Intelligence, also known as CQ, is defined as the capability to work and relate effectively with people from different backgrounds. It is a research based way of measuring and improving individual and organisational effectiveness across a number of culturally diverse workplace contexts including:
