eSynergy Associates Evening
About this Event
The associate evening is aimed at our nearest and dearest associates who have delivered projects for us or are well known to us. The idea behind the evening is to get to know eSynergy better, giving you an overview of the projects we are delivering, our customers, our vision and strategy and some insights into market trends as we see them.
We are delighted to be joined by guest speakers from HMRC and Mettle.

7:00pm Mettles journey towards throw-away clusters
Steve Wade, Platform Lead at Mettle
When Steve arrived at Mettle he was greeted by manually provisioned clusters with nodes that were multiple years old and people were scared to change them. This talk will show you the journey Mettle is on to go from this setup to how they now see clusters as being totally ephemeral. Steve will talk about the lessons learnt along the way, the tools being leveraged and what’s left to do to complete this journey.
7:30pm How Research and Design are influencing HMRC customs services?
Annaliese Lamb, User Research Lead & Jackie Brownlee, Design Lead at HM Revenue & Customs
Jackie and Annaliese have been working as Profession Leads on the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) programme at HMRC which is a complex group of interconnected customs projects. The programme replaces the existing customs system which is nearly 25 years old and can’t be easily adapted to meet new requirements. Their statement of work focuses on delivering quality, coherence and collaboration within research and design across the programme. They will talk about how they work with the user centered design communities, the scrum teams, and the wider business, to advance the influence of research and design on the delivery of this complex program of work.
