London Tech Ladies…Building for everyone @ Facebook
Facebook builds for everyone. This includes not just many countries and cultures, but those dealing with mental illness and even those intent on trying to violate our rules. Come hear from members of Facebook’s Community Integrity team on how we work together across roles to make our products work for the whole community and prevent them from being damaged by those intent on causing harm.
6:30 pm: Doors open, informal networking begins
7 – 8:30 pm: Event programming (there will be a short break in the middle)
8:30 – 9 pm: Informal networking
We will have three sections to the presentations:
1. Building with Integrity – presented by Rupi Sureshkumar (Product Manager)
Learn about how Facebook approaches building products so as to minimize risk vectors.
2. Designing for Mental Health – presented by Bradley Gabr-Ryn (Product Designer)
One in four people suffer from some form of mental illness – that’s roughly 25% of people using your product, and yet, this significant population is something that is rarely talked about during the design process. Together, we’ll explore the patterns and principles we use on a daily basis to create experiences that truly work for everyone.
3. Working Cross-Functionally: a panel discussion
At Facebook, our product teams are composed of numerous different roles, from software engineers to content strategists to data engineers. Come here from some of our team members what their role does here at Facebook and how we work together across different disciplines to build our products.
LondonTechLadies events are open to anyone – men & women from any industry or background are welcome.
Special thanks to Belen Ripoll on behalf of Tech Women London for helping as we planned this event: https://www.meetup.com/Tech-Women-London/
