Nikos is an early adopter of TypeScript and has been using it since 2012. Most of his open source projects in GitHub use it, including his popular Test-Recorder Chrome extension. He draws on his experience with the language in this entertaining webinar to demonstrate a niche, but the important usage of TypeScript, within AWS lambda functions.
He will then go on to explain the concept of the Serverless framework and show how you can use TypeScript + the AWS SDK with TypeScript to have type-safe AWS lambda functions. The Serverless framework allows you to condense many parts of an AWS application into a single source location and have a single deploy process. Serverless is a Nodejs based framework that takes your resources and bundles them up and uploads them to AWS S3. It then uses cloud formation to spin up the AWS assets described in your Serverless project. The AWS SDK can be rather intimidating but Nikos has found that TypeScript can result in a more happy developer workflow.
